This campground is on Pomona Lake 24 miles south of Topeka. The campground is absolutely gorgeous with lots of trees and very spacious campsites. Every site is shaded. There are several different camping areas and some are primitive, but there are many full hookup sites and even more water/electric sites available. The sites in Burning Heart area are full hookup and there are several very long pull through sites that are quite nice. Most of the sites have only a view of the water, but there are a few water front sites near the marina. And several sites have no view of the water at all, but the wooded surroundings are very beautiful. We didn't use the shower facilities but the building looks very new and modern. We will definitely camp here again. The only reason I didn't give a 10 is that the cellphone service was marginal. Our wireless Internet card did work there however.

This is a city park extraordinaire. The campground is lovely and quiet and right on the lake. The only minus, and the reason for a 8 and not 10, is that there aren't sewer hookups. Also, the sites are close together which is only an issue if the campground is full. Laundry is available in both shower houses. The shower house that I used was climate controlled (central AC is nice in humid Kansas). There is an 8 mile walking trail around the entire lake, which has many hills (all of Kansas isn't flat) and gorgeous scenery. On the west side there is a botanical garden area with covered bridge and gorgeous landscaping which shouldn't be missed if you're there during the summer. Also available is a golf course, boat ramps, beaches, tennis courts, heated fishing dock. And all the conveniences of everything you might need to buy in Topeka. We camped four days and LOVED it.

This campground is on the ocean. Which is the only perk. It's beautiful and the beach access is easy. But the rates just recently were doubled from $25/night to $50/night. Which is absolute robbery with no water or electricity hookups. The campground was full the entire time we were here and the public beach next to the campground was very full, too. Which made the bath houses absolutely filthy except for the immediate period following the daily cleanings. Also, the campsites near the shower houses are convenient, but when we were there other campers (children and adults) would just walk right through our high-priced campsite with no regard for our presence. If they add hookups the $50/night fee would be more tolerable.

This is a wilderness type campground in a beautiful, quiet area of Yosemite. 50% of the sites are reservable, the rest first come/first serve. We enjoyed camping here even with the primitive nature of the campground. There is water available in the park, just not at every campsite. There is a waste water disposal drain next to the restrooms for Grey water. There are adequate numbers of restroom facilities with flush toilets. I don't think the toilets are cleaned very often which is kind of unfortunate given the heavy use that the campground has in the summer months. Showers available 17 miles away in Yosemite Valley. Food storage restrictions enforced because of bears. We did actually see a bear, too. We would return to this campground.

This campground is in a lovely wooded setting in the Flint Hills of Kansas. We stayed in Hickory Hollow which has full hook-ups. Sites are first come first serve. Heavily shaded sites with lake view and short trail down to the lake which is easily accessible. There are several camping areas in this state park, many with lakeside camping. A few full hookup sites are reserveable, although they are in an area with little shade and no lake view. The park has beaches, a marina, laundry, firewood, and friendly camp hosts. There are well-spaced single sites as well as "double" sites for two camping units. We will come again.

We really enjoy camping here. There is a lot of shade and easy access to the water. They have recently eliminated the vault toilets and made them into flush toilet, and shower, which was a huge improvement to the area we camped in The campground hosts are great. They do their jobs without being "rule nazis". This is just a beautiful quiet campground with lots of space between the individual campsites.

From the highway this appears to be a nice shady park. The sites are shady, but gravel and dusty with the Kansas wind. And the highway noise is really quite loud. The pool was nasty when we were there. The showers are okay, but nothing special. There is an RV dealer on site which could be handy, and the store is pretty well stocked. It's probably okay for an overnight stay if you are in a hard-side camper that blocks out the highway noise.

We were very pleased with our camping experience here. The lake is gorgeous and surrounded by forest and hills. The lake is clear and calm for boating. There is a marina very close by. We were impressed with the boat dock and beach also. And we were able to get around ten TV stations with only our crank up antenna. The bathrooms are private and nice. Be sure to have long water hose for connecting to the water. The only minor negative is that many of the sites don't have long parking pads for RV's. And there isn't much room for extra vehicle parking at each site, which makes the interior road a little crowded, but not bad. Overall, though, it's a quiet shaded campground right on the lake. You can easily dock your watercraft right at your campsite. We loved it!

Sites are well spaced and most provide a decent view of the ocean. Long stretch of beach that is easily walkable. Long bike/walk trail that runs along the coast for a few miles. Bathrooms adequate. We were unable to get any signal with WIFI but didn't really put a lot of effort into troubleshooting it. I can see no reason that there shouldn't be electric hook-ups. Water is available at many locations throughout the park. Campground is patrolled often and we felt safe. I would camp here again in a heartbeat and stay longer if there were electrical hook-ups and WIFI.

This campground is on beautiful Melvern Reservoir, about 20 miles east of Emporia. There are many lakeside campsites with hookups and all are very shaded. The shower house is a bit small but clean and adequate. The campsites are spacious and grassy, with paved pads and adequate parking areas. It is very quiet and well patrolled by the local sheriff. The lake is clean and large enough for all water activities.

This is a great campground. We were attending a festival in nearby Independence this weekend and chose to camp at this state park. It is on a beautiful lake surrounded by hills and trees. There are several choices for campsites from primitive to full hookups. Lots of shade. The site we camped in was in Prairie Meadow, which offers very spacious pull through sites as well as some back in. The sites are spaced far apart which allows for great privacy. Independence is a very nice town with all the necessities available in a 5 minute drive. (aka Walmart) We will definitely camp here again.

This is such a perfect place to camp! The sites are very private and surrounded by forests and mountains. Most sites are pull-thru. The roads are paved. There is water available in several sites of every campground section. There are walking trails and horse rides. And many opportunities for site-seeing nearby.

As an overnight stop this campground is perfect. Shade trees are plentiful. Pool is clean and well maintained. Shower rooms are great. Laundry is clean and machines new. The best part is the owners. They are very friendly and helpful and go above and beyond the call of duty to make everyone comfortable.

We stayed in one of the premium terraced sites. Very nice. Cabins look nice, also. The non-premium sites near the camp office looked crowded. Wi-fi worked fabulously. It's a couple miles off the road but easy to find and very quiet. The one negative was the hot tub wasn't working and we were kind of looking forward to it.

We spent two nights camping here over Memorial Day weekend. Very comfortable, quiet, beautiful campground with swimming beach and lots of shade. Laundry, clean restrooms/showers and close proximity to shopping add to the comfort. Paved roads and level, paved/gravel sites are well maintained. I can't think of any negatives to this beautiful little campground on a lovely little lake. Fishing and boating are permissible although there are a lot of "no wake" areas on the lake. We loved this place and will return.
